The Access to Life project in Cornwall, in association with The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia aims to change the range and length of time services are available to people living with stroke and aphasia. In this major project, Connect is working in partnership with people living with aphasia, local NHS trusts, Adult Social Care, The Stroke Association and community organisations to achieve this. Connect will be acting as a catalyst to build the skills and capacity of people and organisations across Cornwall to be more responsive to the everyday issues important to people living with stroke and aphasia. Together, we will be developing and delivering innovative, inclusive and creative opportunities for life with aphasia and long-term conditions.
We have:
- Established strategic partnerships with the Acute and Primary Care NHS Trusts and Adult Social Care in Cornwall and with The Stroke Association.
- Set up a local steering group of key service providers and people living with aphasia recruited a local project co-ordinator and an NHS project advisor.
- Run a number of 'involvement' events – talking to people living with stroke across Cornwall about the services and opportunities they have experienced
