Conversation Outreach Project

This was a three year project, based in South London, in which we trained over 100 volunteers to visit people with aphasia in their own homes for weekly conversations. People with aphasia were very positive about the volunteer conversation partner visits – they enjoyed the time to talk, the chance to share stories and the valuable opportunity to practise communicating with others. The ideas and learning from this project are now feeding the Reaching Out Project in which Connect is supporting NHS services to provide similar communication opportunities for people with aphasia.
