Creative Arts Day

22 July 2010

An arts day for people with aphasia and their relatives

Venue:
At Connect, 16-18 Marshalsea Road, London SE1 1HL

This day is about

  • having fun
  • trying out new arts activities
  • getting new ideas
  • meeting other people and relatives with aphasia
  • finding out about arts activities in your area.

Don't worry - you don't have to be a brilliant artist to take part.

Painting, drawing, writing poems are all ways to express your feelings. When words are difficult it often helps to try new ways of communicating. Often, people with aphasia use art to express what they feel about their aphasia and how the outside world views aphasia.

"It was fun. It gave me inspiration"

Sharon Smith

Sharon, had her stroke in 1990 and now lives with aphasia. She came to our Arts Access day in November. The day at Connect inspired her to write this poem.
