Employee Involvement

Your staff and Connect

At Connect we are committed to including and involving people with aphasia throughout all that we do.  We also pioneer and champion communication access.  This means that we frequently have to make complex information (such as financial breakdowns) and formal environments (such as board meetings) as communicatively accessible as possible. As a result, it is not only people with aphasia who find it easier to understand complicated information and participate in meetings.  From staff and Trustees, to volunteers and training delegates, clearer communication benefits everyone - not just people with aphasia.

Understanding different ways to communicate, not reliant on language alone, will undoubtedly bring benefits to your staff.  Being able to use drawing and gesture, for example, when communication is difficult, can really help to alleviate stress and break down barriers.  And even though they may not realise it, many of your staff probably know someone who has aphasia - perhaps an older relative or friend.  So nurturing a partnership with Connect is likely to bring long-term benefits which ultimately extend beyond the workplace.

Connect can provide your employees with information and training opportunities about how to communicate creatively and clearly.  Together, we can explore how to maximise the mutual benefits to be gleaned from our partnership.  Maybe it'll be through involvement in events or opportunities for us to become your Charity of the Year.  Perhaps through support for fundraising initiatives or volunteering time and expertise.  We're confident that we can work together towards acheiving a world where people living with aphasia find opportunity and fulfilment.
