Communication skills – a short introduction (Date TBC)
A half-day, practical introductory course for people wanting to develop their communication skills. Concessionary rate available.
Working with people who have communication difficulties can be challenging for both you and the person who has the communication disability. This half-day course has been specially designed to give you a broad understanding of what it’s like to live with a communication disability and to equip you with practical skills. By the end of the course, you’ll be inspired to have more conversations, more nvolvement and more fun with people who have difficulty talking.
Who is the course for?
Anyone who wishes to enhance their practical communication skills. This introductory course is particularly suitable for speech and language therapy students, care home staff, and those considering a career in a profession where they may meet people with communication disability.
What will you gain from attending the course?
• You will have increased knowledge of the issues and challenges that face people who have communication disability.
• You will be able to use new techniques to communicate effectively and compassionately with people with communication disability.
• You will gain practical tips for having productive, enjoyable conversations with people who have difficulty talking.
How much does the course cost?
