Aphasia questions and answers

When I meet new people, they sometimes think I am drunk. But I am not - I just have aphasia. What can I do?

Aphasia affects people differently. Sometimes the way that the words come out can sound a bit like a person is drunk. Try carrying an “I have aphasia” card to explain to new people why your speech sounds slurred. It can be useful to have one in the car, one in a bag, one by the door. You can make your own or they are available from Connect. Find out more in I have aphasia cards
