Communication Disability Profile

A tool to enable people with aphasia to express their views and experiences of aphasia.

Each CDP includes a comprehensive user manual, a detailed, accessible picture resource for conducting the profile, accessible and culturally diverse rating scales and twenty five copies of the interview form and scoresheet for compiling interview responses (more can be purchased separately).

Sample pages: Download (1.66MB)

This resource gives you everything you need to measure aspects of living with aphasia for that person, at that time.

It provides:

  • information that supports joint decision-making (and goal-setting)
  • enables the person to express the impact that aphasia has had on his/her life, regardless of his/her access to spoken or written language
  • enables discussion about identity as a person living with aphasia
  • allows you to explore how external factors (including other people) affect life with aphasia.

'I find the CDP extremely interesting and with great potential for filling a long felt need', Martha Taylor Sarno, Aphasiologist

'The CDP is an invaluable clinical tool - it provides structure and direction in what, for me, has been an ad hoc and nebulous area of assessment', Alison Greenwood, Clinician

'The CDP has the potential to become that elusive outcome measure that researchers seek to ivestigate the real-life impact of therapy', Wendy Best, Therapist Researcher
